In this week's Torah portion, Ekev, we learn about the 7 species of the Land of Israel as well as about the covenant between God and the Jewish people which is all about having rain in the Land of Israel. So basically it is all about agriculture. Today tiny Israel, despite being over 50% desert, exports agriculture to Europe, has cows which get the greatest yields in the world and is the world leader in water-saving technology. Of course it also is going green in other areas as well.
Here are 8 cool Israeli inventions for greener farming. The first one I often visit with people as an Israel tour guide; we end up at the first kibbutz to introduce organic farming in Israel as well as creating an incredible company called Biobee.
